Uptime monitoring for WordPress and web design agencies

Greenbar checks each client site's URL from outside, over the web, and opens an incident when a page stops returning what it should. It's for freelancers and small web design agencies who look after WordPress sites, or any other kind of site, for their clients. There's no plugin to install, and each client gets their own status page.

What Greenbar checks

Add a client and paste their URLs: the home page and key pages like contact, booking or checkout. Greenbar runs HTTP(S) checks on the status code, with optional keyword checks (the page contains, or doesn't contain, a word you choose). That catches a page that loads but shows an error, like a database connection error in place of the home page. Paid plans include 1-minute checks and Free includes 5-minute checks.

When checks fail, Greenbar opens an incident on its own. When the site recovers, it resolves it. You get an email alert on every plan, and Slack or signed webhook alerts on paid plans.

No plugin, nothing to install

Greenbar isn't a WordPress plugin. It checks each site from outside, so there's nothing to install, update or keep compatible on the client's site. It works the same way for WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or hand-built sites, and you can watch all of them from one dashboard. If an update breaks a page, the next check sees the status code and page text that the URL returns.

What Greenbar doesn't check

Greenbar checks the status code and page text at each public URL. It doesn't log in to wp-admin, scan plugins or themes, check for updates or run security scans. Keep your usual maintenance tools for those jobs.

How it fits a care or maintenance plan

  • You get the alert. When checks fail, Greenbar opens an incident and emails you, with Slack or signed webhook alerts on paid plans. The dashboard shows which client sites are up, slow or down at a glance.
  • The client gets a client-branded status page. Each client gets a public page at a usegreenbar.com address, like yourclient.usegreenbar.com. It shows their services, the current status, daily uptime bars for each service and the incident history. There's nothing for them to log in to. On paid plans, you can add the client's logo and brand colour, and hide the "Powered by Greenbar" line.
  • A record for the monthly report. When you write the monthly care-plan report, you can send one link instead of a screenshot of a dashboard. The page shows daily uptime bars for each service and lists recent incidents, with what went wrong and when each was resolved. In your dashboard, check history covers 90 days on paid plans and 7 days on Free.

How to set it up for your client sites

  1. Add a client. Name it and pick a status page address, like yourclient.usegreenbar.com.
  2. Paste their URLs. Add the home page and the key pages you want on the status page. There's nothing to install on the site.
  3. Add keyword checks where they help. Pick a word the working page always shows, or an error message it should never show.
  4. Share the link. On paid plans, add the client's logo and brand colour first, and choose whether to hide the "Powered by Greenbar" line. Then send the link to your client once. When something breaks, you get the alert and the page updates.

See a sample client status page on the live demo. It uses sample data and shows the default look, including the "Powered by Greenbar" line.
